I’ve never shipped a bike before, and I keep thinking: what does “safe” even look like in this context? Do I drain the fuel, disconnect the battery, wrap the fairings, or just hand it over and hope for the best? I don’t want to find out I skipped a crucial step when it’s already too late.

If you want to ship a motorcycle safely, the best approach is to follow a clear prep checklist and work with a carrier that knows bikes: you photograph the current condition, secure loose parts, limit the fuel, then the transporter does a walk‑around with you at pickup, loads it with proper equipment, keeps it insured in transit and repeats the inspection at delivery, so any issues are caught and documented on the spot.
